Meet our Board of Directors

Susan Halbig, PT, DPTSusan Halbig is a qualified physical therapist who trained at The University of New Mexico School of Medicine, with a BS in Exercise Physiology. Since completing her doctorate in physical therapy in 2014, she has discovered her passion for continual learning and goal of  providing conservative treatment options for those diagnosed with scoliosis in the state of New Mexico.

With five years of pediatric experience and the management of her own scoliosis she is able to provide empathetic treatment that will be individualized for each client. She works together with her clients to empower and encourage self care and conservative management for their condition.  She completed her BSPTS Schroth C1 Training in 2016 and BSPTS C2 certification in 2019.

Antony Kallur, MDDr. Kallur(Antony) is a board certified pediatric orthopedic surgeon, extensively trained in spine surgery. He dedicated 10 years of service at the Universtiy of New Mexico Albuquerque (2010-2020). During his time there he was promoted to associate professor and was selected instructor of the year in 2014 by his residents. He has had excelent traing in the the United States, with his first fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. His second fellowship was at the esteemed Alfred I. Dupont Children's Hospital in Delaware, where he had further training in complex spine deformites in children. Dr. Kallur is versatile in all aspects of various spine propblems in children and is well versed in minimally invasive surgery and navigation assited spine surgery. He is also trained in vertebral body tethering and edoscopic spine surgery. He has special interest in back pain in children and it's management, especially back pain that can be debilitating in active children due to fractures (Spondylolysis), slippage of bones (Spondylolisthesis) and disc prolapse. 

Karen Pettine, PT, DPTKaren Pettine is a New Mexico native, University of New Mexico alumna, and bilingual in Spanish and English.  She earned her doctorate degree in physical therapy from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in 2016.  Following the completion of her degree, Karen trained at Phoenix Children’s Hospital and Camelback Sports Medicine in Phoenix, Arizona.  

She completed her BSPTS C1 and C2 Schroth certification with Dr. Hagit Berdishevsky at Hunter College in New York.  She was first exposed to Schroth as a patient herself learning to manage her own scoliosis.  This experience led to a passion for assisting others with the management of scoliosis.  As a complement to Schroth, Karen is also dry needle certified.  She enjoys working closely with each client to help promote life long spinal health.

Ashley Sapien, PT, DPTAshley was raised in the greater Seattle area before moving to Missoula, Montana to get her degree in Exercise Science. Ashley traveled down to Glendale to study physical therapy at Midwestern University. She stayed in the valley after school and started working at an outpatient pediatric clinic and now works in pediatric home health. She was first introduced to the Schroth method while on rotation in physical therapy school and later did continuing education on the method. She completed her BSPTS C1 certification in October of 2023. Ashley is excited to bring her experience with pediatrics to assist with scoliosis.

In her free time, Ashley enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter.
